I mentioned on Instagram the other day, when I took the boys to the beach while Luke was in a meeting down the hill, that I really shouldn’t complain about or hate the weather here in SoCal quite so much as I usually do. Especially since I’m a beach girl at heart. I’ll say it again: it’s awesome that you can go to the beach pretty much year-round.
The beach feels like home to me, no matter where that beach is. I’d say this one felt a little less like home as I prefer the quite, surfer-town beaches over ritzy, glamourous affairs, but it was still amazing. The houses that overlook the beach in Corona Del Mar are palaces, looking like they’ve been transplanted from various places and eras around the world. The water (woo-ter, if you have my accent, which causes the actual Californians, including my children, to laugh) was calm, and blue. The sand was perfectly white and soft, though searing hot on bare feet. Cool breeze and a touch of sunburn to complete the trip. Splashing cousins and covered in sand from head to toe. All in all, a pretty good way to spend a day in April.
