We heard the circus was coming to town (close enough, in Ontario) and I knew we had to take the boys. I’ve alwaysalwaysalways loved the circus (minus the clowns that are extra creepy), especially the elephant and acrobats. I wanted the boys to experience it…plus Luke had never been before!
I remember going to tiny circuses when I was young, and one especially sticks out because we got to talk to a few of the performers and I got to ride an elephant for a few minutes! To me the circus is romantic, I know it’s just a notion because in reality, they have a difficult life of relentless travel and three shows a day, but the gypsy in my loves the idea of traveling the country, a new city every weekend, exotic animals and glittery costumes. Alas, I have no acrobatic talent whatsoever.
We started off the day at Krispy Kreme, where all good days start. Then on to the circus with lots of performers at the preshow, where we got to be up close and personal with all the acts. We all really enjoyed it…my favorite was the hand balancing couples…the girls did most of the balancing of the guys, plus they wore heels! And of course, the elephants…at the preshow we got to be up close and watch an elephant named Mable paint a picture. Luke loved the human canon (she’s the youngest girl doing that in the country!) and the boys loved the tigers. The best part for me? Barnum & Bailey Ringling Bros. has no creepy clowns.
